Membership Policy

The YWCA welcomes individuals and families regardless of age, race, religion, gender, ability or economic level.  If you have special requirements and need assistance, please call Membership Coordinator Melissa Reilly at ext. 120.  If a member or guest acts in a manner inconsistent with the YWCA mission, fails to abide by the rules and regulations of the YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County, or acts in a manner which is harmful, potentially harmful or a threat to the safety of others, membership and/or Rec Pass privileges may be revoked or suspended at the discretion of the Executive Director or the Board of Directors.  Therefore, the YWCA reserves the right to deny access or membership to any person who:

·         is a registered sex offender;

·         has pled guilty to or been convicted of a crime involving sexual abuse, physical abuse or neglect of a child, spouse or parent;

·         has pled guilty to or been convicted of any offense related to the sale or transportation of illegal narcotic, habit forming or dangerous drugs;

·         and/or is clearly under the influence of intoxicating beverages or behavior modifying drugs.

 

FACILITY ACCESS

A YWCA Rec Pass membership is required for access to the swimming pool, whirlpool, gymnasium, racquetball courts and fitness center.  Daily, weekly, monthly, multi-monthly and annual passes are available.  Members may purchase punch cards for access to swimming.

 

POOL

Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult over 17 at all times.  A complete list of pool rules is available at the Service Desk.  Infants and toddlers MUST wear a swim diaper; diapers are available at the Service Desk.

 

WHIRLPOOL

·         Whirlpool users must be at least 18 years old.

·         Maximum time in the whirlpool should not exceed 20 minutes.

 

SAUNA

·        Sauna users must be at least 18 years old; however, children 13-17 years of age may ender under parental supervision at all times.

·        Take a warm shower before using sauna and enter wet if possible.

·        Out of courtesy and for your own protection, users are required to wear a bathing suit or clean gym clothing.

·        The sauna is an electrical appliance; therefore do not place newspapers, towels or any combustible material on the heater or guard fence.

·        Pregnant women should not enter the sauna without prior medical consultation.  Use of sauna is not recommended for person with high blood pressure, cardiovascular disorders or pulmonary diseases.

·        Do not use the sauna while under the influence of any type of alcohol or drugs.

·        All metal jewelry should be removed prior to entering the sauna.

·        To prevent dehydration, drink plenty of fluids before entering and leaving the sauna.

 

LOST AND FOUND

See the Service Desk to turn in found items or to inquire about lost items.  The YWCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.  Items left over 30 days are donated to local charities.

 

LOCKER ROOMS

YWCA locker rooms maintain wet and dry areas.  Please be mindful of these areas.  For the comfort and privacy of all members, children five and older are required to use their same gender locker room.  Families with opposite gender children age five and over may use the special assistance (ADA compliant) locker room.  See the Service Desk or a lifeguard for the key.  Cell phone usage is not permitted in the locker rooms.   ** Baby changing areas are located in the men’s and women’s aquatic locker rooms.**

 

GROUNDS

The YWCA is a smoke free facility. 

Children under the age of 10 should be accompanied by an adult at all times while in the facility.

 

RECYCLING

The YWCA is a recycling-drop point for the following items:  inject cartridges and laser toner cartridges, cell phones (nonworking or working condition), PDA’s (Personal Digital Assistants), and pagers.  All items collected will be refurbished or processed as scrap to recover raw materials.  Items to be recycled can be dropped off at the Service Desk.  Please place class and plastic recyclable materials in the appropriate bins throughout the facility.

 

 

 

 

Fee Policies

MEMBERSHIP CARDS

Members, child care parents and rec pass holders are required to carry YWCA issued membership cards to access the facility.  One free card is issued at time of registration (two for childcare parents).  Additional cards may be purchased for $5.  For members who forget to bring their cards, we will provide three warnings that are tracked in the computer system and after three warnings you must purchase a new card in order to access the facility.

 

GUESTS

YWCA facilities daily fee: $6 for adults, $4 for children age 7 - 17, $3 for children ages 6 and under and $12 for a family. 

Guests are expected to adhere to the same policies as members.  Guests under the age of 16 must be signed in by a parent or legal guardian and may not be left unattended in the facility.

 

LOCKER RENTALS

Individual lockers are available for rent.  Locker rentals rates are $25 for tote locker (12”’x12”x14”), $40 for half locker (12”x35”x14”) and $75 for full lockers (12”x72”x14”).  Locks are not to be left on any locker unless it has been rented.  See the Service Desk for additional information.

 

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The YWCA is committed to serving individuals and families from all economic levels.  Fees are intentionally set at a moderate level and do not cover the full cost of service.  Scholarships are available for YWCA programs and services, subject to available resources and applicant's income eligibility.  Applications are available at the Service Desk and are reviewed monthly.  Not all applications are guaranteed approval.  For further information, call Sue at ext. 125.

 

COUPONS, DISCOUNTS, CREDIT MEMOS AND GIFT CERTIFICATES

Please present coupons, etc. at time of registration/purchase.  Seniors are eligible for a 10% discount on all purchases (excluding merchandise) on the first weekday of each month. Gift certificates may be purchased for monetary value only and redeemed according to membership level of persons using the certificate.

 

CLASS CANCELLATION AND RESCHEDULING

Occasionally, due to lack of participation or inclement weather, a class may be cancelled.  Participants will be notified of the change.

 

REFUNDS & CREDITS

Refunds are only given for classes cancelled by the YWCA.  Program fees, annual membership dues and recreational passes are nontransferable and nonrefundable.  Participants registered for  classes who withdraw will receive a voucher for the program fees minus $10 processing charge.

 

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Payment must be made at the time of registration by personal check, VISA, MasterCard, Discover or cash.  Rec Pass holders may also elect to have an electronic fund transfer (EFT) through a local bank or from a credit card.  If you chose to pay your membership by EFT, you will sign an agreement authorizing the YWCA to withdraw a monthly payment from your bank account (or charge an accepted credit card) every month or once yearly.  These withdrawals or charges will appear on your bank or credit card statement. EFT requests do not expire automatically.  If you wish to cancel your EFT, a cancellation form must be completed 30 days in advance of when you wish to cancel your membership.

 

RETURNED CHECKS

There will be a $35 charge for all returned checks.
