Caring for Our Community’s Children
The YWCA is Adams County’s largest child care provider with two convenient locations. Our main location (909 Fairfield Road) and the Adams Commerce Center (50 Expedition Trail) offer full-day and before- and after-school care for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years.
Our classrooms feature a curriculum designed to enhance and enrich learning in all developmental areas including physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and self-help skills. Activities are a balance of child-directed and teacher-directed experiences. Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack are included in full-day childcare programs.
We have something for all ages of children. Find out more and enroll your child to be a part of our growing programs today!
Child Care Staff
The carefully-selected staff of the YWCA Child Enrichment Programs meets or exceeds the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. All staff members receive a minimum of 24 hours of annual training on child development issues and best practices. They also receive training in pediatric first aid & CPR, water & fire safety, and emergency & crisis response. Extensive background checks are conducted for each new hire including FBI/fingerprinting, criminal record, and National Sex Offender Registry (NOSR) clearances.
The group supervisor in charge of each classroom has specialized training and experience in early childhood education, elementary education, or child development. Assistant group supervisors who assist in the classroom have a high school diploma or G.E.D. and experience with young children. Our staff act as facilitators, structuring the environment to provide developmentally appropriate opportunities for exploration and discovery. Our teachers work in partnership with parents, communicating regularly to build mutual understanding and greater consistency for children.

Pre-K Counts
Beginning on July 5th, Pre-K Counts applications will be available by request. Should you like to request an application, please contact our Administrative Coordinator, Lydia VanEvera, by email or by phone at (717) 334 -9171 ext. 114. All applications will be due by August 1st and may be turned in to your center director.
Please know that Pre-K Counts applications will be considered based on criteria set forth by the state first and foremost. All applicants must, at minimum, meet income requirements. Additional risk factors as outlined by the state, will also be considered and prioritized. These applications will NOT be considered on a first-come, first-served basis due to the regulations that we must adhere to for the program. A waitlist will be created for any applicants who meet minimum requirements that we are not able to serve immediately.
We look forward to another great year of Pre-K Counts learning and fun!
