A Favorite Spot Is Reborn

Sometime in early January, a once-lively corner of the YWCA building at 909 Fairfield Road will be staffed, full-service, open and operational. We will be all set to serve our members with a new selection of food and drink.

Over the years, countless visitors to the YWCA have enjoyed a cup of coffee or a snack in the corner of the building, located near the entrance, and successfully operated by the Ragged Edge coffee shop for many years. That working agreement came to a mutually agreed-upon end a few months ago, when the YWCA re-purposed the kitchen area to better accommodate our Childcare programs.

Tony Trask, pictured here, will be managing the as-yet-unnamed corner spot. Since earning his Culinary Certification, Tony has accumulated valuable restaurant experience in several roles. We are delighted to have him with us in a dual capacity, managing the “coffee shop” and assisting with nutrition and meals for the YWCA’s Child Enrichment Program.

What can you expect from Tony? Right now, he’s working on a menu that’s likely to include cinnamon rolls and other baked goods, sandwiches, smoothies, wraps, frittatas, parfaits, soups, salads, fajitas, and omelets.  And, of course, coffee, tea, and a few other drink choices!

Got a menu suggestion? Could you send it to Tony right here? Got the perfect name for our new cafe? We’d sure love to hear that too!

The cafe/coffee shop/bistro/corner hang-out (we really do need a name for it) is projected to be open daily from 7:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

We hope to see you there soon!
