A Special Message From Judy

Throughout its long history, the YWCA has had many triumphs and challenges; this period is no different.

As you may know, the YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County is in the midst of a search for a new executive director, which organizationally means that many things are in flux.  We have always employed great people, and we are confident that the new Executive Director will continue this legacy.

As we prepare to transition to new leadership, we have been working to update our systems, evaluate our policies, and streamline our procedures so that we can be as responsive to your needs as possible.

However, with all changes comes a period of upheaval when the “old” is no longer working but the “new” is not fully implemented.

This leads to frustration and the appearance that things may actually be going backward.  I assure you that they are NOT.

It is my sincere intention that by the time the new executive director takes over, the systems, policies, and procedures necessary to be of the highest service are in place.

Among the changes we have been implementing are:

  • A new software system that will allow you to enroll in classes and renew your membership online
  • Personnel policies that, in the midst of a national labor shortage, will allow us to attract and retain the high quality of staff that you have come to expect from the YWCA
  • Upgrading equipment in the Sports & Fitness Center
  • Adding shade structures to our 909 Fairfield Road childcare facility
  • Implementing a farm-to-table nutritional program in the Child Enrichment Program
  • A Family Health Coordinator position to better serve families and children
  • A Member Services Coordinator position to better serve our membership across departments

We have some current personnel updates.  Mark Rivera, our Aquatics Director, has resigned from his position.  We thank Mark for his efficiency and productivity during his time here at the YWCA and wish him every success in his future endeavors.

We have promoted an internal candidate, Lydia Van Evera as the new Assistant Director for our 909 Fairfield Road CEP facility.

We have also hired Katie Myers as our new Family Health Coordinator.  This is a new position that will be available to help teachers keep track of records and safety protocols so that they can spend more time in the classroom with your kids.

While we are training staff in new software, upgrading equipment, working on facilities updates, and onboarding a new Executive Director, we recognize that you, as members, may run into some inefficiencies and frustrations with our operations.  We humbly and sincerely ask for your patience during this time of transition.

If you have any questions regarding the changes that are happening, I am more than happy to have a conversation with you.  You can reach me anytime on my cell phone at 720-350-7814.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your continued support for our beloved YWCA.  We are looking excitedly and optimistically toward the future!

Sincerely,

Judy Morley, PhD

Interim Executive Director
