Inclement weather notice: On days that the Gettysburg Area School District is closed or has a delayed opening due to inclement weather, YWCA instructors are empowered to use their judgment to decide if it is safe to come to work. Class cancellations will be posted here.
About our classes:
Barre Class- Barre classes are a fusion of ballet, Pilates, yoga and strength training.
Body Pump- is a fast-paced, barbell-based workout that’s specifically designed to help you get lean, toned and fit. It uses a combination of motivating music, fantastic instructors and scientifically proven moves to help you achieve these targets more quickly than you would working out on your own.
Chair Yoga- A gentle class that enables people who cannot lie on the floor to enjoy the benefits of yoga.
Fit, Fun, & Fifty+ (FFF) – A total exercise class for seniors. Cardio, toning, and flexibility.
The Fifteen Class- This class is a half an hour body sculpt With music, the first 15 minutes is upper and lower body exercises with weights and the second 15 minutes is abs on the floor
Gentle Yoga- Gentle yoga designed for all ages.
HIIT– or high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time.
Silver Sneakers Classic- Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscle strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a Silver Sneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated exercises and standing support.
This class can be adapted by the student depending on their fitness level and abilities. It is suitable for beginning to intermediate skill levels.
Silver Sneakers Seated- the Silver Sneakers Circuit workout offers low-impact choreography alternated with standing upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a Silver Sneakers ball. A chair is available for support. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness level and can be adapted depending on the skill of individual participants.
Spin– is a highly effective way to build cardiovascular strength and endurance. Designed for all ages and fitness levels, Spin offers a challenging 60-minute ride with fun energizing music. It’s the perfect opportunity to get your heart pumping while you burn some serious calories.
Toning- This interval-based class combines full-body strength training with high intensity cardio bursts designed to tone your body, improve your endurance and clear your mind before you start your busy day!
Walking Group– join a small group as we walk 3 miles and get to know one another. Be prepared for cooler weather, we do not walk in rain. Meet at the front door at the benches.
Yoga- You will be encouraged to explore beyond your boundaries with more challenging options and poses. More detailed alignment cues are given throughout class to help you fine tune the postures and deepen your practice. It is helpful to have a strong yoga foundation already in place.
Zumba– Fusion of Latin and international music that creates a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness class.
Zumba Toning- Those who want to party, but put extra emphasis on toning and sculpting to define those muscles!
