The Nearly New Closet

The Nearly New Closet opened for business on April 22nd, 2021!

If you are familiar with the Nearly New Sale that took place twice a year in past years, you may be aware of how those spring-and-fall events served many families in our community in a very positive way. In fact, the Nearly New Sales was one of our great traditions and a crucial part of both our overall mission and our financial health. Unfortunately, what we’ll call the “traditional” Nearly New Sale fell victim to Covid concerns in 2020. At least for now, the Nearly New Closet will replace the seasonal Nearly New events.

We are delighted to continue providing a space for our community members in need to shop for gently used children’s clothes and accessories. The Nearly New Closet will be located in our Y Wee Care service’s former location, which was suspended back in January due to diminished usage.

Unlike the Nearly New Sales, the Nearly New Closet will not involve consignment of donated items. Nevertheless, we are still quite pleased to offer community members a way to donate goods that still have lots of valuable years and service left in them.

In the past, the Nearly New Sale depended on our fantastic volunteers, many of whom were members of our community and membership. With the Nearly New Closet opening, we are again going to need the support of regular volunteers. The Closet will be open for business from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. every Thursday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays. Purchases – cash, card, or check – will be processed right there at the front membership desk. It couldn’t be any easier!
