The carefully selected staff of the YWCA Child Enrichment Programs meet or exceed the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. All staff members receive a minimum of 18 hours of annual training on childcare issues and practices. Staff members receive training in Pediatric First Aid/CPR, Water and Fire Safety, and Emergency & Crisis Response.   Extensive background checks are conducted for each new hire including FBI/Fingerprinting, Criminal Record and Child Abuse Clearances.

Each program has a group supervisor in charge of the classroom who has specialized training and experience in early childhood education, elementary education or child development. Assistant group supervisors who assist in the classroom have a high school diploma or G.E.D. and experience with young children. Our staff act as facilitators, structuring the environment to provide developmentally appropriate opportunities for exploration and discovery. Interactions and activities are designed to develop the child’s self-esteem and a positive feeling toward learning. Our teachers work in partnership with parents, communicating regularly to build mutual understanding and greater consistency for children.

Our creative and energetic staff look forward to working with you and your child.
