YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County has announced the hiring of Tymia Q. Green as Executive Director. The selection was made by the Board of Directors following an extensive search that also relied upon the YW’s executive management team.
Tymia most recently has served as the Associate Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Harrisburg. Prior to this role, she established Miayo Entertainment & Management, LTD., where she provides business management services to clients within the Entertainment Industry. She also worked in the York County Domestic Relations Section for more than a decade as the Administration & Modification Unit Director.
Tymia was born in York, Pennsylvania, and raised between Peoria, Illinois, and Dallas, Texas. She attended the University of Phoenix, where she earned an Associate and Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration & Management and her MBA. Currently, Tymia is midway through a Doctoral Program at Walden University, where she will earn a Doctorate of Business Administration (Business Research Scientist) with a concentration in change/crisis management.
Before returning to Pennsylvania, Tymia volunteered at Peoria Housing Authority as Tenant Council President, which led to a volunteer position with a local partner who serviced the community’s youth, the Boys & Girls Club. Realizing her passion for working with children, she soon moved into the program coordinator position.
She has overseen before-and-after school programs, summer youth camps, conducted parenting classes, youth workforce trainings, etiquette classes, and computer literacy workshops for the youth as well as seniors for several nationally branded community service organizations such as the YMCA, YWCA, Children’s Home of Illinois, and United Way. She was also a certified Foster Parent in the state of Illinois.
“On behalf of the YWCA Gettysburg and Adams County, we are so pleased that Tymia will be leading our organization with expertise,” said YWCA Board Co-President Lyne Aurand. “She brings much experience working with nonprofits and communities. With Tymia as our ED, we are excited for the future of the YWCA and its involvement in the community.”
Tymia will assume her new role at the YWCA on June 20.
Established in 1929 on Gettysburg’s Lincoln Square, the YWCA has long been an active force in the improvement of Adams County.
The YWCA’s many programs and services work toward the mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Since 1981, YWCA headquarters have been located at 909 Fairfield Road in Cumberland Township, where they operate at a 25-meter swimming pool, fitness center, and the county’s largest childcare facility.
