Mission Opportunities

Get involved and help us fulfill our mission.

Bring about meaningful change in yourself and in your community.

Support Your Local YWCA

The YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County offers plenty of opportunities to get involved in carrying out our mission. Since our membership and program fees cover only 88 percent of our operating expenses, we rely on private donations and grants to cover the rest. You can support YWCA programs by donating directly, contributing items on our wish list, or volunteering your time. You can also support the YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County with every online purchase through Amazon Smile and iGive. Learn more about our mission opportunities below.

Ways to Give
Friends Fund

Gifts to the YWCA Friends Fund are an important part of our annual budget because they cover many of our operating expenses.

Designated Gifts

Donate in any amount to any department or program you choose. You can also donate to the YWCA USA to support the YWCA’s mission on a national level.

Matching Gifts

Your employer may match your donation to the YWCA. Check with your HR office to find out if your employer participates.

United Way Allocation

The United Way of Adams County allows donors to designate gifts to the YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County using your United Way pledge card.

The Endowment Fund

Money in our Endowment Fund builds interest and generates revenue for each year. Donations can be made in honor or in memory of family, friends, or loved ones. For more information, contact Mike Dorsette, director of finance and administration, at gro.acwy@ettesrodm.

The Danner Society

The Danner Society is a special group of donors who include the YWCA in their wills or estate plans. Planned gifts can include cash, assets, property, life insurance, IRAs, and other retirement funds, charitable remainder trusts, or annuities.

Transfer of Appreciated Assets

Stocks or other investment funds that have been held for more than one year and have grown in value can provide a substantial gift to the YWCA at a low net cost to you.

IRA Distributions

Donate your mandatory minimum IRA distribution to the YWCA.

All planned gifts should be discussed with your financial advisor and the YWCA to ensure maximum benefit to both parties.

Hallmark Sponsors

YWCA Hallmark Sponsors are a vital part of the organization. For an annual gift of $3,500, Hallmark Sponsors are recognized on a banner along the YWCA’s driveway and parking area at the 909 Fairfield Road facility. Hallmark Sponsors are also recognized at each of the YWCA’s events throughout the year and in all pre- and post-event printed materials, on t-shirts, and more! Businesses can also sponsor individual events throughout the year.

For more information and a complete listing of 2022 events, see the Sponsorship Packet 2022 (pdf file).

If your business is interested in becoming a Hallmark or event sponsor, e-mail Alex J. Hayes or call 570-295-1888.

Thank you to all of our 2021 Hallmark Sponsors!

PA Educational Improvement Tax Credits

Pennsylvania has approved the YWCA to accept tax credits from the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) for pre-kindergarten scholarships.  These scholarships are available for children ages 3 to 5 who are enrolled in our child care programs.  As the largest child care provider in Adams County, our three centers care for approximately 270 children, and almost 40 percent of those participate in our Pre-K programs.

Pre-K scholarships benefit families that struggle to make full tuition payments but earn too much to qualify for Pennsylvania child care subsidies. This is an important link in making sure all PA children are kindergarten-ready.

Qualifying businesses may contribute to EITC up to $10,000 as a 100 percent tax credit, and an additional $90,000 as a 90 percent tax credit.  Eligible businesses are those authorized to do business in the Commonwealth of PA and must be subject to any of the following taxes: Corporate Net Income Tax, Capital Stock Franchise Tax, Bank and Trust Company Shares Tax, Title Insurance Companies Shares Tax, Insurance Premiums Tax, or Mutual Thrift Institutions Tax.

Applications for tax credits are processed on a first come, first served basis. With no additional cost to you and with minimal effort, you can make your tax dollars benefit Adams County children through the YWCA.
